Because I SAID SO!

The Emperor is a card about success and control. When we look at the picture of The Emperor, we see a man who has achieved success in his life. After all, he is the Emperor, he is firmly in control. Looking at his picture, we don’t get the feeling of a warm cozy guy. Seated on his steely colored throne wearing his steel boots, he has the look of a man who means business. When he turns up in a reading as an outcome card he represents a positive outcome. Success is assured. If he represents a particular person, he embodies a person who is mature and probably financially successful as well, but he is also someone who tends to be a bit authoritative and controlling. As a person, he is difficult to deal with because he insists on doing things his way. When I see the Emperor in readings that I do for others, more often than not he is showing up in a shadow position indicating someone trying to get, or maintain control of a situation rather than to let things flow as they will. As you can imagine, control issues come up quite a bit in relationship readings. Someone is either trying to control the other or perhaps even themselves, meaning that they are allowing their egos to hold themselves back from what spirit knows to be something or someone good. The ego jumps in and says ”no way”, it can’t and won’t be done. Spirit asks, “why not”?

When using the energy of the Emperor for meditation, we may want to focus on where we can bring control back to ourselves. This is not about trying to influence another person, but rather how you can increase your feelings about your personal worth, while leaving the ego behind. We can also use this card to help us release the need to control situations and other people by asking ourselves where in our lives we are not allowing for things to flow freely. When we try to manipulate people or situations we are operating out of ego and far from spirit. By letting go of control and letting spirit take the lead, we will arrive at our destination that much faster and with minimal stress. I would suggest using a white candle to help focus on the crown chakra of higher wisdom which willhelp your spiritual self to shine through the ego. An amethyst would be an excellent crystal to use to enhance your intuition and lavender oil for aromatherapy to help you to feel more relaxed.
