This is a picture of my drum. I went outside today at noon and drummed for 15 minutes. The sky got darker and sure enough rain drops started to fall. I am not egotistical nor have I become delusional enough to think that I am so" powerful" that this was my own doing. I would like to think that it was a result of a collective power of thought aimed at easing the fires in Colorado which was done by many people all over the country, all in their own unique way. I am skeptical as I see that storms are and have been in the forecast for today and the next day or two after that. Anyone who watches the news, reads the paper or has a smart phone need only to have looked to see that information which has been out there since yesterday at least. There are scientific explanations for what mother nature will do next. Is it possible that collective thought process can manipulate the timing of the expected? I suppose that it is not out of the question. What I find more exciting is the idea that people can and do empower themselves by believing that they can make a change. Where I am not so sure about the power to change the movements and behavior of the physical world, I do believe that we have the power to control our own personal environment to bring about the life we desire or something damn close to it given the interference of the free will of all. For that I say, Blessed Be humans, embrace your inner god and run with it.

Coffee Bean Divination

I went to a great book store the other day called "Upstart Crow." They have some wonderfully fun books that are offbeat. I could easily spend the better part of a day just browsing through all they have to offer. I bought 2 really fun books on knitting, one by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (a self proclaimed yarn harlot!) who puts humor into knitting and draws life lessons from it as well. I will write more about that in my other blog specifically for knitters so as not to bore the rest of the readers. The other book I bought is called "Cafe Nation." It's a book about the history, folklore and magick of coffee! The book includes recipes, potions and shows you how to brew Turkish coffee which apparently is a must for coffee magic.
